Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Development Engineering, the Engineering Specialist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive analyses of overseas supply chains, with a particular emphasis on North American operations. This role requires a seasoned professional with demonstrated expertise in vendor assessment, qualification, and engineering feasibility studies to support strategic sourcing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supply Chain Assessment: Evaluate and establish overseas supply chain capabilities, focusing on North American markets.
- Manufacturer Sourcing: Identify, assess, and onboard new manufacturing partners in North America to support product development and production needs.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with external consultants and internal teams—including Engineering and Supply Chain—to ensure alignment between sourcing strategies and product requirements.
- Market Intelligence: Provide timely insights into market trends and developments in emerging supply chain regions, including second-tier suppliers.
- Feasibility Studies: Conduct engineering assessments related to production transfers from Asia to North America, including risk analysis, tariff forecasting, and contingency planning.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- Industry Experience: Minimum of 7 years’ experience in plastic product development and/or production within the toy or consumer goods industry.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and automated production systems is highly desirable.
- Experience with sustainable polymer and/or fiber-based materials is considered an asset.
- Professional Competencies:
- Strong ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills in Cantonese and English, both written and spoken.
- Global Exposure:
- Proven track record in overseas manufacturing, engineering, global sourcing, supplier qualification, and supply chain operations.
