WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ORGANIZATION 

We are looking for a Staff Accountant whose responsibility is to provide day-to-day financial support to business operations in North America. The Staff Accountant, reporting to the Accounting Manager, works independently and analyzes their data and reports. The Staff Accountant works to identify issues and offers ideas to their manager that can drive results to meet and/or exceed targets and to create efficiencies. This position interacts with and builds relationships with agency staff at all levels.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with month-end close process
  • Prepares various monthly journal entries and ensures conformance to Company’s accounting policies and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Applies cash, prepares cash journal entries, and reconciles all cash accounts
  • Prepares and analyses balance sheet reconciliations for manager review and investigates reconciling items 
  • Files various tax returns including HST, QST, Chicago Personal Property Lease Transaction tax, and sales and use
  • Assists with both internal and external audits 
  • Prepare year-end and tax packages
  • Manage fixed assets, including processing additions, disposals, and depreciation, and managing annual inventory count
  • Review and prepare revenue recognition, transfer, and write off entries for NA Finance team
  • Manage prepaids, ensuring compliance with internal prepaid policy
  • Updates and maintains documentation of own processes
  • Participates in ad hoc special projects as required, and other tasks as assigned

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO HAVE 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance
  • 1+ years relevant work experience 
  • NetSuite experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of accruals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office especially with higher level Excel functionality
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work with a wide range of people
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; must be a self-starter

 

Starting salary between $68,000-$77,000
