LIFE OF A TMS SUMMER INTERN
Here at tms, we care about our people, and we want to help foster their skills into the best they can be. The tms Summer Internship Program aims to do just that. Each year, we seek to build an inclusive program that not only offers hands-on experience working with clients and cross-functional teams alike but also promotes numerous networking and relationship building opportunities with industry leaders, mentors, and peers across the business.
As an intern, our program will provide you with the unique opportunity to fully integrate yourself across the various business units and departments at tms, while also focusing on team-building and strengths-building opportunities. Throughout the summer, as an intern at tms, you will take part in real client projects and will work together with the other tms interns on a Capstone project, which will be “pitched” to the agency at program end. As an intern, you will also have the opportunity to take part in various panels, lunch & learns, and group activities, all centered on providing you with career tips, guidance, and best practices. Our goal is to help foster the minds of our future – the talent that will ultimately develop and bring the freshest and most innovative ideas to life.
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
- Robotics Researcher
- Role Overview: The Robotics Researcher Intern will evaluate and assess robotics integration opportunities within the manufacturing and tooling processes used by our vendor partners who produce promotional toys for major quick-service restaurant clients. This individual will serve as the technical liaison between our marketing agency and potential robotics technology partners, focusing on identifying automation solutions that can enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality control, and production capabilities for small plastic toy manufacturing. The intern will work directly with the Innovation Director to assess how robotics startups or research labs can bring advanced automation technologies to traditional toy manufacturing processes, including emerging techniques like Large Behavior Models for robotic learning and teleoperation-based training systems, ultimately creating competitive advantages and new business opportunities for our clients in the promotional toy market.
- Projects will include: Evaluating manufacturing process automation opportunities, conducting technical assessments of robotics solutions for injection molding and assembly processes, researching robotics applications in quality control and inspection systems, analyzing cutting-edge robotics training methodologies and AI-driven automation approaches, preparing feasibility studies for manufacturing automation implementations, and supporting partnership development with robotics technology providers. A side project may involve designing, building, and scripting an automated physical camera rig for repeatable studio food photography according to variations of light, camera angle, zoom, and other parameters.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO HAVE
- Manufacturing and industrial robotics knowledge: Understanding of plastic injection molding, assembly line operations, industrial automation systems, robotic arms, pick-and-place systems, and quality control automation including computer vision applications
